On June 18, 2014, Ottawa-based Caribbean embassies and high commissions jointly hosted a reception at the Chateau Laurier hotel to mark 41 years of CARICOM’s existence.  Among the attendees and speakers were Ms. Lois Brown (Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Cooperation), H.E. Philip Buxo (outgoing High Commissioner of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to Canada), H.E. Evelyn Greaves (outgoing Barbados High Commissioner to Canada and Dean of the CARICOM Group of High Commissioners), Mrs. Sheila Sealy Monteith (outgoing High Commissioner for Jamaica to Canada) and Senator Don Meredith (CARICOM Canada Parliamentary Friendship Group). Guests were greeted by community members in colourful traditional Caribbean attire and treated to tasty culinary delights from the Islands.
