Lansdown Park TD Place was the scene of the city’s first ever Community Kicks festival, an exciting blend of recreational soccer competition, coupled with entertainment from Ottawa’s diverse ethnic communities. The brain child of Dan Dubeau, this newly minted  event featured 24 teams competing in a six-a-side co-ed soccer. Teams came from the city’s diverse community agencies and volunteer-led organisations such as: Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organisation (OCISO), Refugee 613, LASI World Skills, French language Catholic School Board, Young Leaders Advisory Council and Ottawa Korean Youth Community. For entertainment, guests were offered a heady mix of Latin American songs and dances, a spectacular ethnic dance from Russia, topped with a flavour of Bollywood from India’s renowned film industry.
