Haoua Inoua is a young woman with a mission, to promote health and well-being among people of African, Caribbean and Black heritage, and sensitize them to the risks  of some of the major diseases and disorders that affect this population. For the past several years, Haoua, a  Community Support Worker with the AIDS Committee of Ottawa (ACO), has been leading the annual health seminar, held under the auspices of the African and Caribbean Health Network of Ottawa (ACHNO). Last Saturday, the organisation held a seminar  at the Richelieu Community Centre in Vanier, highlighting developments in the fight against HIV/AIDS and the alarming increase in opioid abuse.  The thirty plus participants included black community leaders and stakeholders, service providers such as Ottawa Public Health and members of the public.
