Help Black History Ottawa commemorate #Canada150 and celebrate Canadian Black Hockey History this December!
Another great project to commemorate Canada’s 150th year in Confederation is in the making!!!
Black History Ottawa is looking for your help as we are in the final stages of planning of “The Road to Canada 150 and Black Hockey”. In a year that we are celebrating Canada and everything Canadian, how fitting is such a project? The planned events include (a) the screening of hockey documentaries followed by a moderated panel discussion, (b) a presentation on the history and innovations of the Colored Hockey League of the Maritimes (CHLM), and (c) a commemorative hockey game to honor the CHLM.
Here are some ways you can contribute to the success of this project:
- Visit the Black History Ottawa donation page on www.canadahelps.org
- Share this document with others in your network.
- And of course, attend the events.
Note: When organizing the commemorative hockey game, we will seek your assistance and cooperation in identifying players for the teams.
We are counting on your support; for donations of $20 or more you will receive a tax receipt. You can also send us a cheque payable to Black History Ottawa at the address below with the note “Black Hockey Project”. Your contributions will help cover the cost of guest of speakers, venues, hockey jerseys and other related expenses.
The events are planned for the week of December 11-17 (exact dates and location to be communicated very soon). Should you have any questions or want to discuss the project further, please don’t hesitate to contact us by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
