Heritage Day is a nationwide celebration that encourages all Canadians to explore their local heritage, to get involved with stewardship and advocacy groups, and to visit museums, archives, and places of architectural significance. In Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson proclaimed Tuesday, February 18, 2014 as Heritage Day at an imposing ceremony at City Hall. The City of Ottawa’s Cultural and Heritage Services branch, in partnership with the Council of Heritage Organizations in Ottawa, hosted informational displays, with over 45 exhibitors at the 2014 Heritage Showcase.
