Sunday 27 April 2014 at the Jack Purcell Centre,  an enthusiastic membership of the Nigerian-Canadian Association of Ottawa elected John Adeyefa as its President for a three-year term. John was the Vice-President in the outgoing Board of Directors. Others elected to the Board of Directors were: Christiana Ogah, Vice President; Sidney Otoboeze, Secretary; Grace Iyobosa, Treasurer; Bimbola Momoh, Financial Secretary; Yetunde Owolabi, Social Secretary; Tomisin Olawale, Public Relations Officer; Reynolds Okoh, Sports & Recreation Coordinator; Lemuel Ambie-Barango, Youth Coordinator; Joe Alphaeus, Ex-Officio; Tunji Bello, Ex-Officio;  Taiye Ahmed, Ex-Officio.

The Nigerian-Canadian Association of Ottawa was formed over twenty-five years ago to foster brotherhood and collaboration among Canadians of Nigerian descent, celebrate Nigerian culture and traditions,  organise social and educational programs for the community, and promote economic, social, educational  and political linkages with the government and people of Nigeria.
