Family, friends and scores of well-wishers were at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel church on St. Laurent Boulevard to join the Margaret and Ignatius Kemdirim in celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Guests came from as far away as Montreal, Toronto and New York to participate in this unique occasion. During the thanksgiving mass by Rev. Fr. Paul Nwaeze, the couple renewed the marriage vows they had first taken way back in 1958, to the applause of the congregation. The celebrations continued in the church basement with surprise well wishes from both Queen Elizabeth and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Thereafter the guests were treated to a sumptuous dinner, with tributes from their many friends.
