DSC_0512Lilly Obina is currently a Project Manager with Ross, a global IT/Engineering company known for the designing, manufacturing, support and sales of a wide range of innovative products. She obtained her Masters degree in Business Administration from Dalhousie University. And for the last 15 years, she has managed projects in virtually every field including, Finance, Education, Aerospace, Broadcasting and Engineering.

Ms. Obina believes in the delivery of quality service to her community and indeed all of mankind. This passion to transform people’s lives placed a burden upon her to run for an elective office in the Ottawa City Council in 2010.

Ms. Obina is passionate about positioning oneself for Success. She delivers free workshop series in the community that addresses these vital areas “How to access entry level positions in key businesses”, “How to write a winning business plan to attract lenders and investors” & “How to obtain government small business grants/loans”.

Ms. Obina has worked as the Choir Director for African Canadian Children Choir in Ottawa. Through that program, she teaches the children and youth leadership skills and discipline through music and art. She has used the choir to raise funds for numerous charitable organizations in Ottawa, teaching them how to give back to their communities.

She currently sits on the Board of Directors for Black Women Civic Engagement Network (BWCEN),  an organization that is passionate about engaging, motivating, and inspiring women to consider the role they can play in strengthening the civic fabric of Canada. In her neck of the woods, she is a Board of Director on the Hunt Club Park Community Association. She is also a volunteer with Citizen Advocacy. She will be running in the Tamarack 5K race weekend in May 2014 as part of the Citizen Advocacy team.

Finally, Ms. Obina has political aspirations and wants to be part of Ottawa City Council to make a bigger contribution to her community through service. Look out for her in the 2014 municipal elections.
