North York — The Ontario Liberal Party is pleased to announce Michael Coteau will be seeking re-election as the Ontario Liberal candidate for the 42nd Ontario general election.

Coteau was first elected to the Ontario legislature in 2011 as MPP for Don Valley East. Before that, he served as school trustee for the Toronto District School Board, winning elections in 2003, 2006 and 2010. Coteau currently serves as Minister of Children and Youth Services, as well as Minister Responsible for Anti-Racism.

“There has been no greater privilege than representing the needs of my community at Queen’s Park,” said Coteau. “Premier Kathleen Wynne and the Ontario Liberals are the only team that can deliver a plan that will position children, youth and their families for success.”

Coteau was joined by Premier Kathleen Wynne and members of the North York community at this evening’s nomination meeting.

“Michael’s advocacy for better student nutrition, increased supports for mental health and prioritizing the overall success of racialized communities in Ontario are exactly the qualities needed at this juncture in time,” said Saurabh Popat, Riding President. I know he will continue to represent our community and advocate for our concerns at Queen’s Park once he is re-elected.”

Prior to entering provincial politics, Coteau served as a School Board Trustee, Executive Director of a national adult literacy firm and worked as a community organizer in Toronto.
