October 20: Your Body is the Lord’s Temple

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?  For ye are bought with a price: therefore, glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (KJV).

I was indignant when I heard a certain health minister respond to a pressman’s question whether he smokes Cannabis sativum (marijuana). His response was:

“My body is the temple of the eternal Sikh (an Indian pagan god). I cannot put anything that is not nourishment in my body. He continued, “I don’t use tobacco in any form, I say ‘no’ to alcohol and all other drugs and stimulants.”

I said to myself, if a man, who was created in God’s own image, can take what belongs to God [his body] and submit himself to become a temple of Satan and publicly professes it, then I, thank God so much because I already have surrendered my entire being, body, soul, spirit and all to God, my creator. I’m the Lord’s altar of praise and worship.

We are witnessing what the Scriptures have prophesied, “This, know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 (KJV).

This has reminded us that we should not be expecting the world to be better than what we came to meet when we were born, but that, “to be forewarned is to be forearmed.” For us to make heaven and spend eternity with Jesus, we must keep our bodies holy and dedicated to the living God. Note: Jesus died so that we might be restored as children of God. Worship Him with all of Your being.

Let’s pray: Lord, help me to love You, honor and serve You all the days of my life. Lord, send me Your Spirit to come into my life today and to stay forever. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Today’s reading: Isaiah 59-61; 2 Thessalonians 3

Live Your Life for Christ.
