Dr. Ruby Edet

Dr. Ruby Edet appointed Executive Director, Capital Heritage Connexion

Dr. Ruby Edet is an adept leader with over ten years of experience in Leadership internationally and in Canada. She is passionate about heritage and fostering diversity. She has worked with Somersetwest Community Health Center as the first Systems Change Manager working with Leadership to ensure equity, diversity, and inclusion is reflected in its systems processes and practice. She also worked with the Leadership of Restore Medical Clinics, Restore-International Foundation, and the University of Ottawa Co-Creath lab, among others, in leadership and management roles fostering equity, diversity, and inclusion in leadership spaces. In addition, she served on numerous boards internationally and nationally, including in the City of Ottawa’s Antiracism board, as Executive Co-chair for the Ottawa Black Mental Health Coalition, and Vice President of the Canadians of African Descent Health Organization. Co-chair of the Data Governance Committee for the National expert working group in collaboration with Public Health Access Canada. She was recently nominated to sit on the Social Planning Council of Ottawa Board.

Ruby holds a bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery (MBBS) from the University of Jos in Nigeria, West Africa. She also has numerous certifications from the University of Washington, including Project Management in Global Health and Leadership and Management in Health.

She brings a unique experience collaborating with diverse critical stakeholders and communities in Ottawa to this position. She is widely traveled, passionate about people, and desires the restoration of life values in these unprecedented times. She is a family woman and loves to cook and learn languages in her spare time.
