Yacqub Jibril is a participant in the Somali-Canadian Youth Mentoring Program.  Last Thursday he joined four other speakers in a panel discussion at a seminar organised by Crime Prevention Ottawa at City Hall for service providers, who work with youth and who wanted to enhance their work through better mentoring programming.
The five panelists examined:
  • approaches to mentoring, including formal and informal
  • different contexts in which mentoring programs operate (school, workplace, community setting, faith-based organizations, etc.)
  • ongoing supervision and support for mentees
  • benefits of culturally competent mentoring programs
  • how to evaluate mentoring
