On February 8, 2016, Or.i.gin Studio was packed to the rafters with fans attending an event entitled “The Revolution Will Be Live – A Spoken Word Legacy Showcase” featuring none other than Jalal Nuriddin (an original member of the U.S. ensemble The Last Poets) and British artist Malik Al-Nasir (of Malik and the O.G’s and a protégé of the late great American artist Gil Scott-Heron). There were also guest performances by Ottawa artists Jacqui Du Toit, Wise Atangana, Rita Carter, ApollotheChild, Kamal Hakim, Prufrock Shadowrunner and John Akpata.
