The Bronson Centre was a hive of activity Saturday as close to a hundred Tanzanians and friends of Tanzania gathered for an evening of poetry, music, dance  and comradeship to raise funds for the Canadian World Education Foundation (CWEF), a charity that supports educational and agricultural programs in developing countries. Today’s event focused on Tanzania where CWEF provides financial sponsorship to scores of children who would otherwise not have access to education. Among the key participants was the Canada-Africa Community Health Alliance (CAHCA) which sends a medical mission year to rural parts of the country, providing life-saving health care to people who otherwise would not have such services. The driving force for this annual event is ever hard-working Petronila Michaels, who with her volunteer committee, organised the entire event, and succeeded in acquiring sponsorship from local businesses and community organisations, such as CUSO International and All Nations Reformed Pentecostal Church. Partners included Black History Ottawa, Tanzanian High Commission, Breadth of Life Tanzania Expedition team,  and Somerset West Community Health Centre.
