Sunday 25 May. Delta City Centre on Lyon Street was a beehive of activity as about a hundred guests gathered to watch the best and brightest of Ottawa’s new and upcoming fashion-based businesses in an afternoon of fun, laughter and networking. Organised by the City Sisters, the social networking soiree was designed to provide professional young women in Ottawa with opportunities to develop new friendships, share ideas and find inspiration in each others’ stories, all under the umbrella of fashion and beauty. There were display booths aplenty featuring hair and skin products, modestly priced fashion outlets, and a fashion show that would have graced the best run-ways in the world.
Led by City Sisters’ President Renata Dasilva-Sharkey, the event featured a clothing exchange; a presentation by Dress for Success, a charitable organisation that actively supports marginalized women seeking to enter the work-force; panel discussion with Questions and Answers by fashion experts; interviews with exhibitors; a fashion show that practically knocked the socks off the feet of those lucky to be in attendance, and concluded with Super Women in Heels-Style awards to two women who had overcome great odds to excel in their chosen fields. An awesome inspiring occasion that made the weekend one to remember!
