On Saturday, December 13, 2014 the Midezor Ewe Association of Ottawa held its 2014 Christmas Party and Cultural Explosion at the Good Companions Seniors’ Centre. The Ewe are an ethnic group located in Togo, in the Volta Region of Ghana and in southern Benin.
Highlights of this very colourful multi-generational bi-annual event included live drumming and folk dance by Kathy Armstrong and the Baobab Tree ensemble, a tribute to the late Mrs. Felicia Ayaaye, a special presentation to The Acting Ghana High Commissioner, Mr. Kwaasi Obeng Koranteng, and an impressive African buffet. Speakers included members of the Midezor Ewe Association Mrs. Alberta Lawson, Mr. Jarvis Domeh and Mrs. Margaret Fotona. Besides getting down to modern African tunes provided by Montreal’s DJ Khalid, guests enthusiastically took part in traditional West African cultural dances such as Adowa, Kpanlogo, Borborbor and Agbadza.
