My name is Akudo Ogechi Nwabuikwu and as of June I graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology & a minor in Business My years at Carleton were some of the most enlightening and rewarding of my life. That said, the experience was anything but easy. Like many others, my university experience was significantly impacted by the pandemic. Two and a half out of the four years of my degree were completed remotely. I had to learn to adapt to pre-recorded classes and virtual group work in real time.
Over the course of my university career, I switched my major, added on a minor and a concentration. I discovered a passion for psychology and the social sciences and was given the opportunity to gain valuable research experience. I took several courses that gave me hands on experience that will serve me well as I go forward in my psychology career. My business minor provided knowledge of the inner workings of organizations and how to excel in every facet of a business, from marketing to sales.
As a new graduate, I am seeking psychology research opportunities to help round out my skills and prepare me for a master’s in clinical psychology. I am so grateful my degree has broadened my horizons and given me the ability to excel in many different fields.
