Good morning folks
As we enter the month of April, the only thing that seems to be consuming the minds of most Canadians is the upcoming federal government elections and the image of eccentric, some may say “lunatic”, US President Trump, looming large over our entire political landscape. Be that as it may, our focus this month are local events, since we are planning a special election edition on 20 April 2025.
Our Top Story for this month is the celebration of our Africa heritage by the relatively unknown Angels Foundation, but whose impact on our community is being felt far and wide especially by newcomers to this country. “Mama” Angela Omoike is certainly an important figure to watch in Canada’s capital region.
In this edition we are happy to bring you reports of ten African Canadians from our region, who have recently received the King Charles III Coronation medal, and two others who had received the Orléans Leading Women and Girls Recognition award; all these in recognition of their outstanding contribution as community volunteers and social justice advocates. We also bring you a book review by published writer, Ifeoma Chinwuba.
All these and more in the April 2025 edition of your favourite newspaper.
Here is the result of the March 2025 poll: Do you have a family doctor? Yes 100% No 0% Thank you to all who voted. Remember to vote in the April 2025 poll: Do you believe that President Trump is serious about making Canada the 51st U.S. state?
Wishing you and your loved ones a happy, health and productive month of April.
