ANCHOR Highlighted in City’s New Public Safety Action Plan
Somerset West Community Health Centre was proud to stand alongside Mayor Mark Sutcliffe, first responders, and community partners as the City of Ottawa / Ville d’Ottawa announced its new Public Safety Action Plan. One of the key highlights of the announcement was the City’s continued commitment to ANCHOR – Ottawa’s first 24/7, community-led mobile crisis response, led by Centretown Community Health Centre, Somerset West CHC and Community Navigation of Eastern Ontario .
Our CEO, Suzanne Obiorah, joined City officials at the press conference to share ANCHOR’s early impact and the growing trust the program has built in West Centretown.
We are deeply thankful for the City of Ottawa’s investment of $700,000 to support ANCHOR’s expansion into a new neighbourhood.
“These investments reflect our shared vision for a modern public safety response – one where city systems and community-based programs work together to respond to some of the most pressing mental-health and social challenges facing our residents.”
ANCHOR’s success in its first year shows what is possible when crisis response is built on trust, equity, and strong community partnerships.
Thank you to everyone – staff, partners, and community members – who have helped make ANCHOR’s first year such a meaningful step toward a healthier, safer city for all.
