Against All Odds – Black community celebrates Remembrance Day

What a wonderful afternoon we had at BIA Media today learning about connections between the Coloured Hockey League of the Maritimes and the No 2 Construction Battalion! Our two historians and one descendent of No 2 veterans shared lots of fascinating info and valuable insights about the league and the battalion while reminding us of the importance of doing our own research; collecting, sharing and preserving stories about the Black experience; and advocating for mainstream institutional recognition of notable persons and events that are part if this experience (Parks Canada designations, commemorative stamps and coins etc…). Many thanks to Sean, Robert and Bob for their presentations. Special sout to Jean-Marie and Luc, who coordinated the entire event. Thanks also to the audience, who were engaged from start to finish. What a truly meaningful way to mark Remembrance Week and honour our military veterans!
