Ambassador Ojo Maduekwe, former Nigerian High Commissioner to Canada

blackottawa, 9 years ago
Late Ambassador Chief Ojo Maduekwe

With shock and sadness we announce the death of our Ambassador Ojo Maduekwe tonight in Abuja at 7pm. after returning to Nigeria from the U.S. via Dubai when he fell ill.

He served under four Nigerian Presidents as Minister of several Ministries, the Secretary General of People Democratic Party, the secretary of the PDP Board of Trustees.

He came to Canada to serve the Nigerian Canadian Diasporas, he made many positive changes in the Nigerian High Commission. He instituted Citizen Diplomacy emulated by other Embassies.
He was well respected by fellow African Diplomatic Corps members as he elevated the status of Nigerian and African Diplomacy.

He was so close to our Nigerian Community, eager to listen and address all issues with perfect wisdom.
He is always available and celebrated with the Nigerian Canadian Communities across several provinces and cities on every occasions and especially our yearly Nigerian mega picnic.
He was a friend to all. The Nigerian Community across Canada will miss him, the Canadian Diplomatic community will miss him, we pray that his family and the community will be able to bear his loss at this tragic moment.
His memories will live on in our hearts forever.

John Adeyefa. President.
Nigerian Canadian Association Ottawa.
