On November 7, 2014, volunteers and supporters of CanUgan gathered at the Marconi Centre for a fundraising dinner celebration. During the event which was emceed by former municipal candidate Lilly Obina, the audience was briefed on the organization’s latest achievements and upcoming projects. Among the special guests in attendance were His Excellency John Chrysostom Alintuma Nsambu, High Commissioner for Uganda to Canada, and Ottawa Centre MPP Yasir Naqvi. The entertainment lineup included popular African a capella ensemble SIFA Choir.
