Simply the Best – A Tina Turner Tribute
By Donnielle Roman
Electrifying, Interactive, Engaging and Energizing
There are all words used to describe the Tina Turner tribute “Simply the Best” at the Shenkman Arts Centre on Friday, July 21st. Featuring the powerful, raspy vocals and thrilling stage presence of Caroline Borole live on stage, complete with a band, brass section, backing vocalists and dancers to make this the definitive tribute and a fabulous fun night out.
Carole took control of the stage immediately; she engaged the audience. She oozed charisma and confidence as she embodied the Tina Turner persona, which is no easy feat: the voice, the energy and the infamous Tina legs.

Carole had the crowd on their feet, singing along, and we even saw some tears as the audience lost themselves in the energizing performance.

Carole performed some of Tina’s greatest hits, including but not limited to: Proud Mary, We Don’t Need Another Hero, What Love Got to Do with It, Private Dancer and The Best; she was animated and performed her dancing enthusiastically. Her outfits showcased Tina’s dynamic style as the Queen of Rock and Roll.
With Tina’s passing on May 24th, 2023, this performance was just what her fans needed, a reminder of the icon that persevered through extreme hardships to become one of the most renowned and celebrated artists of our time.
As the show ended, you could hear the cheers and the buzzing of what a fantastic show it was; it was evident that the audience truly enjoyed themselves. The show is travelling all over Canada, so keep an eye out for the next time it comes to Ottawa; you will not want to miss it.
