On Thursday, December 11, 2014, staff, volunteers and supporters gathered at the Canadian Museum of Nature for an evening cocktail reception celebrating Help Lesotho’s 10th anniversary. During the formal program, which was emceed by Hon. John Manley, guests heard from Help Lesotho founder Dr. Peg Herbert as well as special guests from Lesotho including Her Majesty Queen ‘Masenate Mohato Seeiso, ‘M’e Makatleho, a grandmother from Lesotho, and Ausi Felleng, a 16-year old GIRL4ce leader. The Lesotho delegation included Her Royal Highness Princess Senate Mohato Seeiso, H.E. Mathabo Tsepa, High Commissioner for Lesotho to Canada, and other officials.
Founded in 2004, Help Lesotho works solely in AIDS-stricken rural communities in the southern African kingdom of Lesotho. The organization’s programs foster hope and motivation in those who are most in need: vulnerable children, girls, youth and grandmothers. Reaching more than 10,000 direct beneficiaries annually, Help Lesotho targets root causes and community priorities including education, leadership training and psychosocial support.
