The Centurion Conference Centre on Colonnade Road was a hive of activity on Saturday 1 November as Canadians of Jamaican origin, their families and friends gathered for the 24th annual National Heroes award and gala. The event honours those from the community who have distinguished themselves through selfless volunteerism, philanthropy and community engagement. Among the award winners were:
Moses Robinson – Community Services Award and United Way Community Builder Award
Judith Headley – Volunteer of the year award and United Way Community Builder Award
Renford Thomas – Life Time Member Award and United Way Community Builder Award
Carol Dennis – Chris Harris Award
Eglan Grant – United Way Community Builder Award
Stefan Keyes – United Way Community Builder Award
