Good morning folks
Happy new month of November! Our Top Story for this edition is the First Mary Ann Shadd Cary Lecture. This celebration of Black Journalism, was ably organized and orchestrated by Professor Nana aba Duncan of the Carleton University Journalism program. Other features in this edition include Rocena Kidney Foundation Gala, the reopening of the Restore Medical Clinics to bridge health gaps for Ottawa’s Black Community, CADHO Wellness Circle and the conferment of Order of Canada to two of our city’s outstanding leaders and advocates: Suzanne Obiorah and Ken Campbell.
We also bring you a quite troubling report from Ottawa Public Health about the rise of food insecurity in the city, with Blacks and indigenous communities over represented among those most vulnerable.
Here is the result of the October 2025 poll: Do you support Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s plan to abolish road security cameras? Yes 0% No 100% Thank you to all who voted.
Be sure to vote in the November 2026 poll: Do you feel Canadian banks are doing enough to protect seniors from financial fraud?
All these and more in the November 2025 edition of your favourite news magazine.
Wishing you and your loved ones the best of the fall season.
