Good morning folks

As we head into the Christmas season, we are reminded that there is more to the yuletide celebrations beyond gifts and gifting. There are so many charitable causes seeking support for their very survival that we urge you to lend your support to the best of your ability. A good is the appeal to send relief to those Caribbean islands devasted by Hurricane Melissa, as well as those countries in Africa affected by by similar natural disasters.

Our Top Story for this month is the Christmas party hosted by the Ottawa Golden Oldies Seniors club at the Tom Brown arena hall on Bayview Station road, an event that brought together elders and seniors from our diverse communities for an afternoon of celebration and comradeship.

We also bring readers the gala commemorating the 46 Independence anniversary hosted by the St. Vincent & Grenadines Association of Ottawa, led by their indefatigable President, Suzette Small-Weekes.

Also in this edition we bring you two Remembrance Day events: Against All Odds, hosted by Black History Ottawa, and the Black Veterans event hosted by Jaku Konbit. We also bring you a report: Aging Well in Ottawa: Health Fair Brings Community and Care Together, hosted by Ottawa Public Health.

Our guest columnists continue to share their insights on issues of interest to our community, Andy Kusi-Appiah on “Succession Challenges in African and Caribbean Community Associations in Ottawa: A Path Forward.”, and Calvin Lawrence with “Reflections on the class-action lawsuit by Black civil servants”. Under People making a Difference, Dave Tulloch gives us a profile of Dr. Doris Kakuru, while we announce the appointment of Magdalene Cooman as OLIP Executive Director.

As we head into the Christmas shopping season, we bring our readers a timely warning in this featured article: “Protect yourself against fraud while shopping online”.

All these and more in your favourite new magazine.

Here is the result of the November 2025 poll: Do you feel Canadian banks are doing enough to protect seniors from financial fraud? Yes 100% No 0% Thank you to all who voted. Remember to vote in the December 2025 poll: Do you plan to make a donation to a charitable organization this Christmas season?

All these and more in the December 2025 edition of your favorite news magazine.

Blessings to you and your loved ones.
