Esther Mulli

Mama Esther Mulli

by Rev George Zimmerman

Esther Mulli, 35 years ago, partnered with her husband Charles M. Mulli to become a mother to thousands of children rescued from the poverty that kills in Kenya.   A mother with eight biological children of her own, she came to care for, cloth, guide, educate, bath, house, and love children of all ages, in sickness and in health, at Mully Children’s Family (MCF), Kenya.   Mama Esther is currently the mother to 1,200 children under the age of 20 at MCF Ndalani.  She has dedicated her life to mothering thousands of children abandoned, marginalized, and lost in all regions, villages and slums of her country, Kenya.  She is a mother ahead of her time, ensuring that equality of treatment and opportunity is extended to all the children regardless of situation, background, or gender.  Her compassion and support, for example, to the child mothers makes her the quintessential mother of mothers.  Thousands of young women, young men, and their babies are breaking the cycles of poverty and want thanks to my Mama Esther.

We all call her Mama Esther.  Anyone can meet her by watching The Mully Movie, available free.  Her calling, she testifies, has not been easy, yet is rendered possible through her love of God, God’s love for children and her unconditional love for so many children.

A devout Christian, Mama Esther has a warm deeply hospitable presence that brings me to call her my mother, a title I would never have imaged I would be using again. I am truly humbled when in her smart and loving presence.  It is a title that I say not only as a term of honour, but also from my heart having deep-felt authentic affection for this remarkable woman.  I have had the joy of meeting, talking, and eating many meals with her at her home in MCF Ndalani, Kenya, the largest family in the world.  I love her to pieces.  Nakupenda! Mother Mulli

On this Mother’s Day, on behalf of the 28,000 children rescued by MCF over 35 years, I wish to extend love and appreciation to this amazing mother of mothers.  Happy Mother’s Day to my mother Esther Mulli.
