About the Ordre de Montréal (Order of Montreal)

As a legacy of Montréal’s 375th anniversary, Ville de Montréal has created an honorary order to recognize the talents and achievements of the men and women who have helped shape the city. The Ordre de Montréal reflects the pride felt by all Montrealers. The Ordre de Montréal, which is marked with nobility and prestige, recognizes 17 prominent personalities each year, following a public call for nominations. Recipients of the honour have distinguished themselves in one or more of the following ways, regardless of their area of activity:

  • Decisive contribution to the development of Montréal
  • Notable contribution to the national or international reputation of Montréal
  • Exemplary commitment to the community
  • Exceptional professional achievement

About Vickie Joseph

Entrepreneur, philanthropist, and ambassador of the inclusive economy, Vickie Joseph contributes to the evolution of entrepreneurship in Montréal.

In 2006, she entered the world of fashion with Nu.I by Vickie, a label that has been exported to some twenty countries. Her rise gained momentum in 2016, when she co-founded V Kosmetik International, an ethical company present in over ten countries. In parallel, Vickie Joseph has made a name for herself with Groupe 3737, a Montréal incubator that has fostered the emergence of hundreds of companies. Her commitment is also reflected in the creation of the V Cares Foundation in 2022. Each year, 300 women from under-represented communities receive concrete support through workshops, conferences, mentoring, financing and several programs designed to stimulate entrepreneurship. The first black woman to chair the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montréal, Vickie Joseph is a driving force promoting an active, creative and inclusive Montréal.
