A small group of seniors take a break from walking the trails to pose for a group pic

A happy group of over 40 seniors from Ottawa boarded a school bus last Friday for a day trip to Kingston, organized by the city’s iconic community organization, Jaku Konbit, under the leadership of its indefatigable President Ken Campbell. The two-hour trip started with passengers picked up at both the Bronson Centre and Carlingwood Shopping Mall, passing rich forests and farmland before landing in the idyllic Lake Ontario Park. With Jaku Kobit staffer Chadonette Johnson in charge of proceedings, the seniors enjoyed an afternoon of relaxation, mixing and mingling, music, food, walking along the famous Waterfront Trail, some even going as far as the infamous Kingston Penitentiary. Along the way, they posed for photos with old and newly-formed friends and took in the ambiance of the scenic Lake Ontario.

The visitors were joined by Raphael Francis, a Toronto-based online media producer who hosts a weekly chat program for seniors every Thursday, titled: “Soundtracks of my life” from 3.00 – 7.00 p.m.

Black Ottawa Scene was there to bring our readers photos form this most entertaining excursion. Kudos to Jaku Konbit for a job well done!
