One of Ottawa’s most eminent psychiatrists, Nigerian-born Dr Adekunle Ahmed, was honoured on 2 November with the prestigious Science and technology award at the Planet Africa Television award gala in Toronto. This illustrious event was graced with the presence of Bernice Luther King, daughter of the late civil rights icon, Martin Luther King Jnr. AG as he is popularly known, is currently the Associate Chief (Forensic Psychiatry) and the Director of the Anger Disorders Clinic, a research clinic at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. He is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa and holds a cross appointment in the School of Criminology, University of Ottawa and adjunct Professor at Queen’s University. An Associate Fellow and Accredited Supervisor of Albert Ellis Institute of Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy, New York, Dr. Ahmed is the Cofounder and Co-Director of the Centre For Rational and Cognitive Therapies. His research interests include the assessment and treatment of Dysfunctional Anger and Impulsive Aggression.
