Message from Suzanne Obiorah, Executive Director, Somerset West Community Health Centre
I’m pleased to share that our new director for Corporate Services Rebecca Adeladan, will be joining the SWCHC team on the 10th of July. This role will oversee finance, procurement, IT, and facilities. It will have a primary focus on positioning the centre to achieve our goals around strengthening our organizational infrastructure to better support the growth we have experienced these past years. Through a recent grant, this role will also oversee a new role focused on developing a fundraising strategy to further diversify our funding sources for the centre.
Rebecca is an accounting professional with a diverse background in the NGO and finance sectors. With over 15 years of experience in the finance industry, including 7 years specifically in the NGO sector, where she has successfully managed various portfolios and projects funded by Global Affairs Canada.
Prior to joining SWCHC, she worked as a Compliance Manager at Plan International Canada, supervising the activities of diverse portfolios across Africa, Asia and North America. Her role encompassed a wide range of responsibilities including budgeting, forecasting, internal and external reporting, compliance, and revenue recognition.
Rebecca also gained valuable experience working with an International NGO in Nigeria. In that capacity she oversaw various projects related to health, education, water, hygiene and sanitation, reproductive health, as well as initiatives promoting gender equality.
In her free time, Rebecca enjoys volunteering, reading and exercising.
Rebecca holds a master’s degree in accounting and financial management from Coventry University UK, with professional qualifications as a CPA, ACCA and ACA.
