Yohannes Ferdinando Drar is a former refugee from Eritrea. He came to Canada in the 80’s. After he arrived in Canada, he started working as a security guard but eventually attained both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from Carleton University in Ottawa. He has since been working as a Mental Health Social Worker at Royal Ottawa Hospital for more than twenty years.
He is a strong advocate for Refugees Mental Health Issues. He gives awareness and educates the Refugee communities and the public through Seminars, Radio Talk Shows and writes articles in community newspapers.
He is a strong community activist and organizer and his passion remains to integrate new immigrants and refugees in Canada. He was one of the founders of the Eritrean Community Organization and Eritrean Students Association at Carleton University in Ottawa.
