A large audience from Ottawa’s diverse communities was on hand at the Contemporary Art Gallery to participate in a fund raising to support East African youth who have been orphaned and/or abandoned to help them to complete their education and training, start small community businesses, and gain vital work experience. The evening featured fabulous appetizers prepared by a local chef, a silent auction with donations from Ottawa businesses and a range of entertainment, including the Tine Rufaro Marimba Band which recently launched their first CD, We Bring Joy, with their unique style of Zimbabwean dance music. Over $6000 was raised from this event, thanks to the wonderful work of the organisers and volunteers.
