Good morning all
Federal Elections 28 April 2025 – Mark Carney is the right Choice!
We are eight days to go, to the what is arguably the most important federal government election in Canada’s history. The very existence of our country as an independent sovereign nation, and our very economic survival are on the cards, as we face off with the eccentric, some would say lunacy-driven tariffs by the eccentric and erratic US President, Donald Trump. All the political parties are aligned to fight this common foe, who appears determined to destroy all that Canadians hold dear, our own very existence and identity. This one time, Canadians are being asked to choose, not the party with the most attractive electoral platform, nor the most eye-catching TV commercials, but a leader who is best qualified to fight for us in what is easily the biggest challenge the country has faced since COVID 19. As is our tradition since its inception in 2023, Black Ottawa Scene is featuring the profiles of Black candidates and candidates of colour from the major political parties. This is in keeping with our mission to see people of colour represented at all levels of government.
But our mission goes beyond that. We are committed to supporting the leader who we believe is best qualified to lead us out of this morass, created by a loose-cannon President of a country we used to regard as our best friend. Black Ottawa Scene firmly believes that Mark Carney is that person. With his incredible credentials as Governor of the Bank of England and the Bank of Canada, as well as economic adviser to the governments of Britain and Canada, he checks off on all the boxes, when it comes to who best can stand up to the eccentric bully from down south. As Dave Tulloch writes in our Top Story, Carney is the man to lead Canada out of this unprecedented crisis. We agree absolutely!
On another note, we urge all our readers to do their civic duty by ensuring that they vote in this crucial election. No matter what party or candidate you support, it is incumbent that you make your voices heard through the ballot box.
