Ms Obina has lived in Ottawa for the last 21 years. she is married with children

She obtained her Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Dalhousie University. She believes in life-long learning that is why she takes French lessons through evening classes at “Le Carrefour”. She is also functional in Arabic.

She works as a Project Manager for a global IT/Engineering company known for designing, manufacturing, support and sales of a wide range of innovative products,managing multi-million dollar product portfolios. An accomplished manager, she previously worked as  Director of Operations for a global IT company in Ottawa. Currently, Ms. Obina is also a business partner running an e-Commerce venture in Ottawa.

Ms. Obina first ran in this ward in 2010 municipal elections. She attained 32% of the vote. “An ideal council chamber would include both Deans and Obina. But since they’re running against each other, voters in Gloucester-Southgate will have to choose.” – Ottawa Citizen. Ms. Obina hopes the people will give her a chance this time to lead Gloucester Southgate to implement policies that will lead to prosperity and growth for all.

In the community, Ms. Obina is passionate about positioning oneself for Success. She delivers free workshop series for young professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs that address these vital topics “How to access entry level positions in key businesses, “How to write a winning business plan to attract lenders and investors” & “How to obtain government small business grants/loans”.

Ms. Obina has worked as the Choir Director for African Canadian Children Choir in Ottawa. Through that program, she taught  children and youth, leadership skills and discipline through music and art.

She currently sits on the Board of Director for Black Women Civic Engagement Network (BWCEN) – an organization that is passionate about engaging, motivating, and inspiring women to consider the role they can play in strengthening the civic fabric of Canada.

In her neck of the woods, she is an Executive  on the Hunt Club Park Community Association. She is also an Advocate with Citizen Advocacy, an organization supporting people with a wide range of disabilities, including physical limitations, developmental delays, mental illness, and disabilities related to aging. She ran with her 11 year old son in the Tamarack 10K marathon race in 2014 to raise money and support Citizen Advocacy Group.

Finally, Ms. Obina wants to be part of Ottawa City Council to make a bigger contribution to her community through service and focus on economic growth for Ward 10 to increase our home values, work for a better Para Transpo service for our seniors, provide safe neighbourhoods, set strong foundation for high paying jobs, promote tourism, bring acountability and fiscal responsibility, build dedicated youth centers and lastly support parents by setting homework clubs.
