The Rocena Kidney Foundation hosted its highly anticipated 3rd Annual Gala on September 27th, 2025, drawing a crowd of over 230 guests in a dazzling celebration of community, culture, and compassion. Held in support of kidney health within African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) communities, the evening perfectly blended elegance and purpose under the theme of Old Hollywood Glamour.

Guests arrived in breathtaking attire that transformed the venue into a scene straight out of a classic film premiere. From shimmering gowns to sharp tuxedos, the room radiated style and unity as attendees came together to raise awareness and funds for vital kidney health initiatives.

The event was expertly hosted by the ever-fabulous Toni Francis, whose energy and charisma kept guests engaged and entertained throughout the evening. The evening also featured a gourmet buffet, live music and dancing, and an impressive silent auction offering an array of prizes for patrons to enjoy. The musical performances by Jay Wura and Nic Code captivated the audience, while Dr. Mark Canney delivered a powerful keynote presentation that shed light on the importance of early detection and equitable access to kidney care in marginalized communities.

Adding to the excitement of the night, David Bostic (aka David Supersound) received the 2025 Community Ambassador Award for his outstanding contributions and dedication to uplifting the community.

As laughter, music, and heartfelt conversations filled the room, the Gala once again underscored the Rocena Kidney Foundation’s mission to promote research, education, and outreach that address the growing kidney health crisis impacting ACB populations.

The Rocena Kidney Foundation would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to its dedicated Board of Directors for their leadership and commitment: Maxine Grant, Alicia Lopez, Kevin Jerome, Allison Everett, Akeisha Grant, and Barbara Timothee. Their collective efforts continue to guide the Foundation’s mission to advance kidney health and equity in ACB communities.

Save the Date! The Foundation looks forward to welcoming guests back for the 4th Annual Rocena Kidney Foundation Gala on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026, which will be another unforgettable evening of celebration and impact.
