Standing ovation for the Agoro family and all the family and friends who helped make yesterday’s Dapo Fun Day such a huge success! The BBQ and baked goodies were delicious and the entertainment (especially Ben Joseph and King Kimbit were on point! My favourite part was, hands-down, that excellent conversation between Shola and Michelle James (Ottawa Black Mental Health Coalition) about peace-making and conflict resolution. Truly enlightening! If you were unable to join us yesterday at the park, please consider making a donation in support of the crucial youth-centered anti-violence initiatives of the Dapo Agoro Foundation for Peace
The Dapo Agoro Foundation for Peace was created in memory of Dapo Agoro, a promising young man who was murdered. The foundation is looking to bring Ottawa’s youth and the community at large together to fight against the rise of youth violence. The devastation and loss of life that it causes is overwhelming. The Foundation for Peace serves as a non-profit organization aimed at bringing awareness to the increasing prevalence of knives among today’s youth and to promote non-violent conflict resolution.
