Some one hundred guests were on hand at the Marriot Hotel Ottawa on Kent Street to celebrate the traditional marriage engagement of Tembeka Yewande Pratt and Olasunkanmi Oyewole Adebero.
The festive occasion was moderated by joint MCs Pastor (Mrs.) Idowu Ladeinde and Pastor (Mrs.) Ebun Oladejo a.k.a Elegant Pro. The groom’s parents Rev. Oyewole Adebero and Evangelist Adenike Adebero, flew in from Lagos, Nigeria to join the bride’s parents, Mr. Yomi Abayomi and Mrs. Kelly Pratt for this joyous occasion.
The event featured traditional Yoruba marriage engagement rites, including the reading of the marriage proposal and customary negotiations between the two families.
The ceremony was rounded off with the blessing of the bride and groom by renowned Bishop Jacob Afolabi, who pointed out that he had performed the naming ceremony for the bride, Tembeka, when she was seven days old. Guests for this festive event came from as far away as Nigeria, U.S.A., Alberta, Toronto, St. Catherine’s and our local residents.
