Ottawa’s Jamaican community celebrated the 55th anniversary of their country’s independence with a service of thanksgiving at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Benjamin Avenue. Among the dignitaries present were Jamaica’s High Commissioner to Canada Her Excellency Janice Miller and former diplomat and publisher Ewart Walters. Notable features of the service included an exhilarating performance by the visiting Toronto Children’s Concert Choir, while Pastor R.J. McEwan delivered a most unforgettable sermon.
