Following the September 21-24, 2013 terrorist attack at the Westgate Shopping Mall in Nairobi, Kenya, a prayer service was held on September 26th at Ottawa’s River Jordan Ministries Community Church to honour the victims. This service led by Pastor Joseph Kiirya (River Jordan Ministries) with the assistance of Rev. Naomi Kabugi and Rev. Mahugu Kinuthia, was attended by pastors from different churches in the city as well as representatives from various communities including Ugandan, Jamaican, Rwandan and Nigerian organizations. Local Kenyans and staff from the Kenya High Commission were also present. Among the speakers were Councillor Keith Egli (representing Ottawa mayor Jim Watson) and Ms. Lillian C. Sambu (Minister Plenipotentiary, Kenya High Commission).
