Ottawa Black Book Club and Institute of African Studies host book launch
The Carleton-Dominion Chalmers Centre on Cooper Street was the scene of the launch of Michael Afenfia’s ground-breaking new novel, Leave my bones in Saskatoon. The event was hosted jointly by Carleton University’s Institute of African Studies and the Ottawa Black Book Club. Set in Nigeria and Canada, this exciting book narrates the story of a fictional Nigerian TV producer, Owoicho, who makes the complex immigrant journey from Nigeria to Saskatoon with his teenage daughter. Present at this ceremony was the Director of the Institute of African Studies, Professor Nduka Otiono, the founder of the Ottawa Black Book Club, Louisa Ibhaze, and Black History Ottawa‘s Community Outreach Officer, Sarah Onyango.
