The Ukrainian Banquet and Convention Hall on Byron Avenue was abuzz with activity as the Liberian Association of Ottawa (LAO) hosted the country’s 178th Independence Day celebrations. LAO President Kelvin Nyan Suah oversaw an evening filled with inspirational speeches, food and refreshments, music and general camaraderie. Among the distinguished guests gracing the occasion were: President of the Liberian Association of Canada Precious Podier-Dramani; Ottawa City Councillor Rawlson King; Jaku Konbit President Ken Campbell; Black History Ottawa’s Sarah Onyango; African Canadian Association of Ottawa President John Adeyefa; ACAO Executive Director Hector Addison; Global Community Alliance President Yomi Pratt; Flo’s Seniors President Joanne Robinson; and Ottawa Police Diversity Officer Supt. David Zackarias.
