Over two hundred people from Ottawa’s diverse communities were in attendance at Hog’s Back Park where the African Association of Ottawa (ACAO) held its 2025 Multicultural Festival on Saturday 5 July 2025. The event was marked by cultural dances by the Kamengo troupe from Uganda, Zila Mani Congo, iconic African traditional drummer Eric Sarah, and a dance group from Somaliland. Display booths featured the Ottawa Police Service, Ecole Catholique, ACAO and the AIDS Committee of Ottawa. Various food vendors were also on hand to serve delicious traditional delicacies such as samosa, jollof rice, suya, fried plantain, and fried chicken. Children were not left out as they had their very own bouncy castles that provided hours of enjoyment. The highlight of the evening was the surprise birthday celebration for ACAO’s Executive Director, Hector Addison, who was feted with a birthday present from the ACAO President John Adeyefa, before joining other ACAO members on stage for a stomping birthday Afro-beat dance session. Black Ottawa Scene was there to bring you pics of this most entertaining festival.
