
Kalubiaka elected Curator of the Ottawa Global Shapers Hub, an initiative of the World Economic Forum (WEF)

Angelica Kalubiaka, an Ottawa-based community leader has been elected Curator (President) of the Ottawa Global Shapers Hub, part of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Community—a network of young leaders driving local and global impact. From 2026 to 2027, she will lead a cohort of more than 30 young professionals dedicated to advancing positive change in Canada’s National Capital and internationally.
Kalubiaka has been an active member of the Global Shapers Community since 2022. The Global Shapers initiative, created by the World Economic Forum (WEF), is a non-partisan network that mobilizes young leaders to advance solutions to pressing global, regional, and local challenges. The WEF’s mission—to improve the state of the world by engaging leaders across sectors—guides the community’s work in more than 150 countries.
Founded in 2014, the Ottawa Global Shapers Hub is one of Canada’s active and dynamic Hubs. It brings together young professionals dedicated to advancing equity, sustainability, and inclusive development. Members lead and support initiatives that strengthen both local communities and global networks of changemakers.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the Global Shapers Community, which now includes 11,520 young leaders across 508 Hubs in 155 countries and territories. Since its creation in 2011, the network has launched thousands of youth-led projects addressing issues ranging from climate resilience and gender equality to economic inclusion and civic engagement.
As part of her new role, Kalubiaka will also travel to Geneva, Switzerland, to attend the WEF’s flagship Global Shapers Annual Summit at the World Economic Forum headquarters. The Summit convenes around 500 Hub Curators from more than 100 countries, members of the Global Shapers Foundation Board, the Advisory Council, and Community Champions, alongside senior WEF leaders. The gathering will focus on strengthening global collaboration, deepening leadership development, and setting shared priorities for the years ahead.

From Ottawa, Ontario, Angelica Kalubiaka is currently a second-year Master’s student in Public and International Affairs at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA). Angelica holds a bachelor’s degree in Biopharmaceutical Sciences, with a specialization in medicinal chemistry (Magna Cum Laude). She later served in the federal public service across multiple departments and at Canada’s Permanent Mission in Geneva, Switzerland. Angelica is actively involved in the GSPIA’s student association, representing a cohort of more than 100 peers. She also serves her community as a WEF Impact Officer, and as an executive at Young Diplomats of Canada, a national non-profit organization. Angelica is a recipient of the King Charles III Coronation Medal, awarded by the Governor General of Canada, and the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.
