On November 17, 2013, the Uplands Chapel in Ottawa once again hosted the annual commemoration of the ill-fated flight 9202 that crashed en route from England to Warsaw following the end of WWII with its supply of Canadian penicillin for the many suffering in war-ravaged Poland. The brief ceremony was attended by a representative of the Polish embassy as well as members of the Polish veterans’ association. Legacy Voices founder, Kathy Grant, represented the family of Erwin Phillips, one of the other 4 airmen who were killed. She was joined by Kate Harling (daughter of the pilot of Flight 9202 – Flight Lieutenant Edward Pattern Harling) and Don Caldwell, the co-pilot’s son on Flight 9202. David Carty, son of WWII Pilot officer Gerald Carty, also attended the event along with came out to honour the fallen. Gerald flew in 35 operational missions in Wellingtons during WWII.
