On June 7, 2014, the Barbados (Ottawa) Association held its 3rd Annual Fundraising Garden Party at High Commissioner’s Residence in Rockliffe Park. Held under the patronage of H.E. E. Evelyn Greaves, outgoing Barbados High Commissioner to Canada, the event featured a silent auction, a best hat & fascinator contest, and a colourful African fashion show presented by Phyllis Bourne (Jesiwa B Fashions). Music was supplied by CHUO 89.1FM radio host Tony Waterman, and proceeds from the event went to the CHEO Foundation – Sickle Celle Disease Parents’ Support Group and Sickle Cell Awareness.
