Yesterday, I was deeply honoured to receive the King Charles III Coronation Medal.
It is an immense honor to receive this recognition in the city where I grew up, Ottawa, surrounded by my loved ones, from the hands of the Honorable Mona Fortier, a woman I’ve admired for years, and with the incredible city councillor of our beloved Vanier, Stephanie Plante.
To be part of the same cohort as former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien and so many extraordinary community leaders who also received this award is truly a blessing, and I am at a loss for words to describe how honored I feel. My father always held him in such high regard, and I can’t help but wish he were here to witness this special moment and share in the joy.
I thank God for His blessings, and I am forever grateful to every person on the teams I’ve had the privilege of working with. There is no “I” in team, and none of this would have been possible without their dedication. I pray that God continues to guide and empower us all to serve others with purpose.
Je dédie ce prix aussi au Gabon, mon pays sans lequel je ne serai pas ici. À tous les enfants de mon pays et au peuple Gabonais. J’espère que cette médaille ouvrira des portes à d’autres Gabonais au Canada et au-delà de ce pays, et vous rappellera à tous à quel point Dieu est grand et Dieu est bon.
