Mr. Michael Adibe, one of the foundation members of the Igbo and Nigerian community here in Ottawa and Canada, turned 80 on November 27. To celebrate this milestone, the community held a commemorative mass, followed by a reception at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on St. Laurent Boulevard. In attendance were Mike’s children Martin, Freddie, Franca and Anthonia, their spouses and Mike’s grand-children. The mass was officiated by Rev.Fr. Emeka Onyegubalu.

Mr. Adibe became a resident of Canada in the late 60’s, and has called Ottawa home since then. Mike had earlier worked in the Nigerian federal service as a Statistician before moving to Canada in the late 60s.  He joined the Canadian federal public service  in 1968, and retired in 1997  as a Principal in the Office of the Auditor General. A Knight of Columbus, Eucharistic Minister and Lay Reader, Mr. Adibe is currently occupied with his service to the church and humanity.
