Inspirational community leader and advocate Jimmy Sebulime was in his element last night when he presided over a ten-team soccer tournament to raise funds for a community centre in Uganda, the land of his birth. Founder and President of the Agnes Zabali Boys and Girls Club, a community-based and youth-led club for children and youth in Kameongo, Uganda, Jimmy explained that the event was being held to raise funds for this inspirational community project. A large crowd of fans and supporters were there to cheer on the teams as they battled for supremacy at the RA Centre on Riverside Drive. The rule was that each team must have at least one female on their team for each of their games.
Competing teams were: Ottawa Police, Ottawa Cranes, OC Transpo, Youth In Policing Initiative, Team AZBGC, and Team Impact Community Project. At the end of the day, after a highly contested game, the Ottawa Cranes defeated the OC Transpo team to win the coveted cup.
The Agnes Zabali Boys and Girls Club is a registered Canadian charity named after Jimmy’s late mother, who is credited with providing the inspiration to Jimmy to initiate this missionary project. More info on the AZBGC on their website: Home | Agnes Zabali Boys Girls Club
